Lots of noise, carts and waiters all over. It’s no secret that if you’re somehow still hungry, you can order seconds, and chefs will carve you off an additional small slice of meat. After discovering this, I would always ask for a slice of the end cut, which is a salty, crispy, well-done piece from the end of the rib. Every single time, dining at the House of Prime Rib, the iconic meat mecca on Van Ness Avenue, is such a joy.

We get a corner booth in the back, lined with red leather seats and framed with magnums of wine. Our cocktails arrive and are shaken table-side, then poured in chilled martini glasses. Each drink is about two-and-a-half pours, so our shakers stay on the table, allowing us to have more as needed. Then comes a warm, fresh loaf of sourdough bread with salted butter. There’s a huge amount of food after this, but a bite (or five) is definitely a must. It is all about the beef, in different sizes from the small City cut to the extra large Henry VIII.
And always make sure to leave room for their many desserts. House of Prime Rib and very good service from the friendly waiters. We could not help feeling that we were being pushed along quickly like cattle car along with little time to savor the gluttony.

It has a golden brown crust and fluffy insides that are perfect for soaking up the au jus, which is both on the meat and in a little silver gravy boat. HOPR is the sort of over-the-top calorie splurge you tend to have once a year, and I—like Keanu—especially love this restaurant during the holiday season. The shiny red and gold ornaments. The pine green wreaths everywhere. I don’t celebrate Christmas, but the dining room during December at HOPR sure makes me wish I did.
Coordination is on exhibit at all times. King Cut is the best way to go. The horseradish sauces are the perfect compliment. The table made salads bring a touch of the old world classic steak house feel. Creamed spinach is great as well.

Our waiter pushes over a cart with a huge silver bowl that sits atop a bed of ice. Inside are iceberg lettuce, matchsticks of purple beets, bits of hard boiled egg, and a creamy 1,000 Islands dressing. Plus House of Prime Rib seasoned salt, which our waiter plucks from our table before sprinkling generously on top.

The price difference is about $10 from largest to smallest, making it worthwile to supersize and eat leftovers the next day. Kids get their cheap meal too. Iconic SF establishment where the perks keeps coming. Salad made table side, cocktails coming with the full shaker, plenty of delicious food, and seconds of you can finish your meal (for free)! And incredible amount of food, servers, and coordination to make this place run smoothly.

We will be back and sooner than later. The House serves 21-day aged marbled prime rib in the English tradition, selected from the top 2% of all marketed beef. Our chef confirms the cut we want then slices it right in front of us.

With our meat, we get mashed or baked potatoes, creamed spinach or corn, and Yorkshire pudding. The potato is huge, piled with butter, sour cream, crunchy bacon, cheese, and chives. The spinach is light but flavorful, with bits of bacon and fresh cream.
Elegant and classy atmosphere. Prime rib was cooked perfectly and was very delicious. Highly recommend this experience to everyone.

Just select desired cut size from the thin English cut to the beefy Henry VIII cut. This restaurant is popular, we had to book many weeks in advance. The handle upwards of 600 diners a night. It took multiple alerts on different days via Opentable to score a reservation.

A bit sweet but enough for one to share with the entire table. Decor, Vibe – House of Prime Rib is a classic steakhouse feel with dark wood, glass paneling, large bar and lounge, and several dining areas. We came midweek and the place was still packed. A cross-section of locals and tourists of all ages and races. Clearly a lot of people love this place. Not a quite romantic dining establishment.

Under the new cancellation policy, final payment for itineraries 6 or more days is due 90 days prior to departure date (vs the old policy's 75 days). Daily gratuity is an automatic service charge added to the passenger's onboard account each day.

NCL Joy is homeported in Miami (for the first time) for 5- to 7-day Western and Eastern Caribbean cruises. Western Caribbean roundtrips visit Roatan, Harvest Caye, Costa Maya, Cozumel, while the Eastern Caribbean roundtrips are to Puerto Plata, St Thomas, Tortola, Great Stirrup Cay. From homeport Miami, the ship operates roundtrips (Sunday departures) on 7-day Eastern Caribbean itineraries with call ports San Juan Puerto Rico, St Thomas USVI, and Tortola BVI. Gratuities increases apply to all NCL vessels, except Norwegian Sky (which is drinks-inclusive). On NCL Sky ship, standard cabin and mini-suite passengers pay per person USD 19 per day, while suite passengers pay USD 22 per day. In 2016 on all ships were introduced upgraded main dining room menus (complimentary) with added new (a la carte priced) menu items.

Norwegian ships also typically hold several themed nights (glow party, '70s or '80s, etc.) during a typical sailing. You might want to bring a few appropriate items, such as white clothing for the glow and white parties or bell bottoms for '70s night. Kicking off the New Year, NCL Norwegian Gem offers 11- and 12-day voyages to and from NYC and Panama City in January-February 2023. During her 12-day cruise from New York City on January 2, she debuts in Puerto Limon and the Pacific Cruise Terminal in Panama City during an 11-day trip on January 14. Norwegian Prima is a newbuild (2022) ship with Maiden Voyage currently scheduled for August 17, 2022. The inaugural season in Northern Europe (August 17 through September 13, 2022) includes 10-day Baltic itineraries leaving from Amsterdam and Copenhagen.
As is typical for cruise lines, Norwegian charges on a per-person basis, not per room, and it prices most cabins based on two people occupying a room. It does offer some cabins for solo travelers on some ships that are priced based on single occupancy. During the Alaska cruise season from late April through to October 2025, Norwegian Joy returns to The Last Frontier and offers 9- and 10-day roundtrip sailings from Seattle WA to allow for a longer experience for guests. Her voyages include scenic sailings to Glacier Bay NP; and Hubbard Glacier.
You will only earn cruise points on eligible sailings where you are paying a traditional fare; promotional sailings with a heavy discount might not be eligible, although you would still receive the benefits at your tier. Also, sailings on sister lines do not qualify for Latitude Rewards cruise points. Norwegian Encore begins a 21-day Panama Canal cruise on October 23, 2022, sailing from Seattle WA, repositioning to Miami FL. During the sailing, 8 out of 11 port-of-calls include a minimum of 9 to 11 hours of port time. From October 2022 through March 2023, Norwegian Cruise Line offers a variety of itineraries ranging from 8 to 21-day sailings traversing the Panama Canal onboard 6x NCL boats (Encore, Jewel, Pearl, Bliss, Gem, Joy).
Norwegian Cruise Line offers sailings at different price points to a global range of destinations. It is also known for its beautiful hull art, pioneering Freestyle Dining and adding buzzworthy amenities like ice bars and race tracks to its ships. NCL cruises are fun for all types of travelers, and its loyalty program can provide added perks along the way. Note the "based on double occupancy" caveat in the above paragraph.
Additionally, the Garden Villas on Norwegian Dawn and Norwegian Star include private outdoor dining areas and steam rooms. At the high end, the accommodations are aimed at affluent travelers who, for whatever reason, prefer the megaship experience to that of a luxury ship, and they truly are among the most spectacular accommodations at sea. Norwegian appeals to vacationers who want a big-resort experience at sea with lots of options for dining and entertainment.
